Course Writer and Editor UX UI and AI

You're the one people trust with the words, whether you're writing them or fixing them. You noticed that you loved it, and that you were unusually good at it. You turn rough, complex ideas into words people understand. Now you get the opportunity to work with some of the most respected designers alive, and help share their knowledge with hundreds of thousands of learners around the world. A great hook pulls your readers in, makes them see themselves in the topic, and shows them why it matters in their lives. That's your craft. Abstract ideas don't stay abstract for long, because you find the example that makes an idea concrete. You're structured and systematic, yet creative, and you'll rewrite a sentence six times until it says exactly what you mean. You see the fear around AI, and you understand where it comes from. But you also see the opportunities, and you want to show people how to work with AI in a way that benefits their lives, their users, and the world. If you're also curious about how great design and the responsible use of AI improve people's lives, read on. As one of our Course Writers and Editors, you'll shape how our courses and Master Classes read and flow. The industry leaders whose expertise you'll be turning into courses and Master Classes include Don Norman and Vitaly Friedman, as well as Design Leads at Netflix, LinkedIn, Meta, and Adobe. You’ll be involved in all stages of course and Master Class creation, including key decisions, so there are incredible opportunities for you to take initiative, make meaningful contributions, and grow. Forget political struggles or long, pointless debates. You’ll be in a team with minimal distance between word and action, where decisions are made ultra-fast. Join the Global Leader in Online Design and AI Education IxDF is the world's largest online design and AI education platform, with over 1,150,000 enrollments since 2002. We hold the trust of industry giants like Adobe, NASA, and IBM, who rely on our courses to train their teams. Prestigious universities, including MIT and the University of Cambridge, integrate our material into their curricula. Help us take online education to new heights and make a meaningful impact on humankind. At IxDF, we’re not just a company but a movement dedicated to making high-quality design and AI education accessible to everyone, everywhere. We've pioneered online design education since 2002. We have over 1,150,000 enrollments and 1,583 company members, with more than 40 courses, 160 Master Classes, and thousands of open-source design resources, created by our team in collaboration with 240 industry leaders. With learners from over 100 countries, your work will empower people worldwide. We're Hiring Three People for Our Editorial Team We're growing, and three roles are open at the same time to build the next generation of our core educational product. Here's what each role leads on: • Our Course Writers and Editors: lead how our courses and articles read. You make each title engaging, ensure each sentence flows, and edit the written course experience from the user’s perspective. This is the role described here. • Our Education Designers, UX, UI, and AI: lead how design and AI are taught. You plan, structure, and create the core content, and you decide what a course participant should be able to do by the end and how they get there. • Our Course Directors, UX, UI, and AI: lead what we teach and who teaches our courses and Master Classes. You reach out to industry leaders and create the invitation they say yes to. You bring your judgment to a planned course outline: what's missing, what doesn't belong, and whether the structure is solid. You plan and shoot courses with our Education Designers. We’re a flexible team, and you’ll be able to do what you excel in. Everyone on our team creates courses, and everyone works across these roles. If you're torn between two roles, apply for the one you'd be best at, and tell us in your application which other one you considered and why. You, the Course Writer and Editor, own how our courses and Master Classes read: the scripts, hooks, headings, on-screen text in videos, quiz wording, and editorial voice across everything we publish. Our Education Designers hand you the structure and the exercises, and they'll often hand you draft headings and hooks along with them. The final wording is yours. You'll work closely with our Co-Founder, your Team Lead, the Education Designers, and the Course Directors, and you'll have a real say in what we make. You'll also work closely with the video team and our growth team. Your Role at IxDF • Be a core part of our Editorial Team. You'll collaborate with IxDF editors, video editors, and UX and UI designers as well as external industry leaders to create educational content for people worldwide. You'll help them succeed in the age of AI with skills in timeless, human-centered design and AI. • Make an impact as you decide how every course sounds. The title people want to click, the first paragraph that hooks them, the on-screen words that make our learners remember and apply what our experts teach. Our Education Designers create the structure and draft the headings, hooks, and quizzes. You finalize the scripts, hooks, headings, quiz wording, and editorial voice across everything we publish, and you give proactive feedback on the structure. • You don't need a design background. Most of our writers and editors start without one, and that can be an advantage because you're coming to design the way many of our learners do. In your first year you'll learn it from the inside, working through it sentence by sentence with the people who teach it, until you know what a course participant needs. • Write for a diverse, global audience. Some of our courses and Master Classes serve experienced designers who want to grow into more senior work. Others serve people moving into design from other fields, and many are not reading in their first language. Often, you'll write for all of them at the same time. Getting that balance right without watering anything down is a rewarding editorial challenge. • Be the voice of IxDF. Our reputation lives in every sentence we publish, and many of those sentences will be yours. Represent a global movement dedicated to design education, and take pride in it. It's a big responsibility, and a rewarding one. • Set and raise the standard for our assessments, so a correct answer proves understanding, not just recognition, and a good question teaches as well as tests. Our Education Designers decide what a question has to test. You write the wording that does both. • Balance the big picture with the smaller details. Expect to focus on one large course creation project per month, alongside small, continuous improvements to what's already published. You'll also write and edit articles, course descriptions, and supporting material, and help our Growth team and our two founders get the voice right in campaigns and social copy. • Turn expert material into lessons. Once you've built an understanding of design, you'll take a one-hour Master Class transcript and the learning goals for what the lesson must teach, then turn the strongest sections into a finished lesson. We produce 3 Master Classes per month, so new expert material arrives continuously. • Our courses combine written and video lessons. You'll work closely with the video team, giving constructive feedback on on-screen text, b-roll, graphics, and animation, and telling them which takeaways need a visual, so each video is more engaging to learn from. • Find room for improvement by looking at completion rates, learner feedback, and the portfolios learners produce, then go back and fix what isn't excellent yet. Small, incremental edits are why our material surpasses even the very best in industry and academia. We're always learning, always improving, always raising the bar in everything we do. • We’re committed to excellence, and we seek a like-minded enthusiast to join us. This role is not for the average. Ahead of you is a highly rewarding and enriching journey. • Maintain and improve our crystal-clear documentation so our knowledge resources stay up-to-date, easy to find, and provide instant value to our internal teams. Clarity is key. Any line of documentation should be self-explanatory. • You won't do this alone. You'll work with our Education Designers, Course Directors, your Team Lead, and our Co-Founder to pressure-test the material: you'll add what's missing, delete what's redundant, and suggest how to improve the structure. You'll be working with people who have anything from 4 to 40 years of design experience, ready to share their knowledge. We'll also help you upskill so you can grow a designer's eye alongside your editor's ear. You'll work in a diverse, highly organized, result-driven environment where you'll develop personally and professionally. • We're proud to have assembled a remarkable team of unicorns who uplift, motivate, and push each other to excel daily. There's a seat open for someone who shares our passion for excellence. Could that be you? Do You Share IxDF's Vision? People don't just buy our courses; they invest in a better version of themselves and a career they truly love. That's why every course we create and every sentence we write must do more than just inform. It must reflect the high-quality research and hands-on skills we teach. • Show the dream outcome: Help people imagine a future of creative, meaningful work, fulfillment, and impact through a career in design and AI. • Strengthen belief in success: Build confidence through real stories, practical case studies, and hands-on templates. • Overcome barriers: Write in a way that's crystal clear, human, and motivating. Connect and lead the way. You'll educate, inspire, energize, and support. Whether you write a course article or give editorial feedback on a video, you'll help designers thrive in the age of AI. About You • You have at least 4 years of professional writing or editing experience. • What matters far more than the number is the quality of the work you can show us: a course, an article series, a set of scripts, documentation, a newsletter. We’re excited to hear what it was, why you wrote it the way you did, and how long it took you to create. • You're a master communicator with a sharp eye for detail and strong skills in language, tone, and flow. • You can take a complex idea and write it so a beginner gets it on the first read. • You know how to hook someone with a title and a first line, and you know the difference between a hook that's earned and a hook that's cheap. • You collaborate with AI in everything you do. You use AI to write, research, and create faster, and you know how to take human leadership, so the outcome is 100% yours and better than you could have created without AI. • You’re eager to help people build UX and UI skills because you know they’re more relevant than ever in the age of AI. • You can write for a career changer and for an experienced designer without losing either one. • You have an exceptional talent for creating structure, and you take pride in organizing processes and tasks in a way that's efficient and clear. • You're genuinely curious about UX and UI design, and you're motivated to learn how great design shapes experiences and solves problems. • You're genuinely curious about how AI is changing design work and design education, and you look for new ways to use it in your own work. • You're kind, and you have the social intelligence and empathy to engage well with very different kinds of people. • You're fluent in written and spoken English, your grammar is exact, and you understand the power of tone, brevity, and microcopy. • You take full ownership of your work and see it through. You move comfortably across ad hoc projects of varying complexity, and you stay consistent when the work turns repetitive. • You’re enthusiastic about learning by doing and are committed to putting in the effort to continuously improve your skills. • You spot problems before anyone else notices them, and when something goes off track you come back with a solution rather than a report. • You value teamwork, prioritize collaboration, and focus on collective goals and harmony in the workplace. • You work well with great responsibility and freedom inside a well-documented, structured system. Accuracy and attention to detail are key on an online learning platform, where every tag must be correct and every piece of text formatted to our upload system. It's in your nature to meticulously double-check that everything is in order. • You're self-motivated, and you love creative freedom, independent judgment, and the responsibility that comes with both. • You’re driven by the desire to make a positive impact in the world and to improve the lives of others. • You're located in a time zone between UTC+0 (London) and UTC+4 (Dubai), which covers Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. Bonus Points None of these are required, but each of them would make us even happier. • You've taught in classrooms or workshops, or you've created educational material. • You have your own blog or social media page where you create and share original content. • You’ve collaborated with video production teams. • You've written quiz or assessment questions. • You've worked with an LMS or an online learning platform. • You hold a bachelor's or master's degree in communications, journalism, literature, or a similar field. What We Can Offer • A highly valued role: You'll shape our core product, our courses and Master Classes. • Reach and impact that are difficult to find anywhere else in this field. Your words will be read year after year, by hundreds of thousands of people who build better careers and design a better world for all of us. An education you can't buy: free access to every IxDF course and Master Class, and a job that requires you to study the work of the best designers alive in order to edit it. Most people pay for this. You'll be paid for it. • Access: the designers whose books you'd normally buy are the people whose words you'll be shaping, and in some cases the people you'll be in a studio with. • Studio shoots: once you know our courses well, usually after your first year, you'll be a real asset on a studio production, and you'll be welcome to join us when we meet our experts in professional studios around the world. Some of us love that part and go every time; others keep travel to a minimum. Both work for us. On average we shoot 4-6 new courses per year. • Autonomy: Nobody will ever hand you a template and tell you to fill it in. You decide how our courses read. • A global, purpose-driven team: Work remotely alongside passionate professionals from all over the world, united by a common mission to create the best possible design and AI education in the world and make it accessible for everyone. • Our co-founder and co-CEO, Rikke, will work closely with you. She and our other co-founder, Mads, built IxDF from nothing, with no investment capital, so we would stay free to make world-class design education affordable to everyone. She was the sole editor and video editor for many of our early years, so she's shaped our course planning, expert interviews, video shoots, and content editing from the inside. She's still hands-on in everything we do, and she still films educational videos herself, in places like the US, the North Pole, and Nepal. • A full-time position within a fully remote organization. Video-based collaboration with your colleagues from elsewhere on the planet, and we get together in person each year, on a team trip or a studio production. • Bi-weekly knowledge-sharing sessions and 4 meeting-free days weekly for focused work. • A work culture with no fluffy titles, political agendas, or corporate drama. Your colleagues value your warm character, your strong work ethic, and the results you deliver. If you embody old-school virtues of always striving to deliver results, learn and become better every day, you'll thrive at IxDF. • A daily mission to help impact, empower, and enrich the lives of millions of people by creating affordable high-end design education for everyone across the planet. It'll be yours too. • A company where the distance between idea and execution is minimal. We're a highly agile organization with zero bureaucracy or corporate politics – and with exceptional order and efficiency. • A company culture where passion meets high performance and excellence. To help us improve the world, and yourself in the process, you'll need grit, strong work ethic, long-term thinking, and self-discipline. • We thrive because we have a hands-on attitude and a bias towards action as opposed to fluff-filled, unrealistic strategies. You'll need crisp execution skills yourself and the ability to impress your colleagues with concrete results, just like they'll impress you. • If you want even more opportunities to show the world what you can do, you’re in luck! When you're willing to do the hard work of learning and growing, then you’ll find virtually limitless opportunities with us. • We built online design education before people believed in it. AI is now changing what designers do, and they carry a bigger responsibility than ever. You'll be at the forefront of teaching designers to work with AI and to design responsibly for it. You'll help set a direction that shapes both the designers we teach and the people who use what they build. Together, we'll design a better world. Please mention the word **USEFUL** and tag RMzQuMjMwLjY0LjEzMA== when applying to show you read the job post completely (#RMzQuMjMwLjY0LjEzMA==).
