Engineering Manager

We're looking for an Engineering Manager to lead a Product Engineering team in our Automation Domain in Berlin. The Automation Domain is responsible for building and owning Nelly’s SaaS and AI products - everything from onboarding new medical practices, the Doctor, Patient, and Back Office portals, to automating bureaucracy and practice workflows, and the AI Scribe, Billing Agent, and Treatment Plan generation products. The role You'll lead a fast moving AI enabled team that is building a new, but central, product. You’ll ensure the team is able to explore, experiment, and iterate quickly - testing new features and ideas internally and with our customers. The product is new, giving you the opportunity to define the product with the team based on experimentation. The team needs to learn fast and be able to let go of ideas that don’t work. You’ll guide the team through this process, striving to improve how the team operates and enabling it to move faster. The team is growing quickly, giving you an opportunity and responsibility to hiring a high performing team and define how it operates. About Nelly We are building the AI-Driven Financial Operating System for European healthcare, solving the biggest challenges for patients and practices. We create what no bank or software platform can handle. Our all-in-one platform transforms chaotic administrative processes into intelligent, automated workflows, from patient care to billing to next-generation payments. Because we truly believe: healthcare should be less about paperwork and more about people. Why? Because Europe is facing a massive shortage of medical professionals. And if we don't rethink the way practices work, the system won't be able to keep up. With our Series B funding of over €50 million from world-class investors, we are turning our vision into reality. What sets us apart: We work with the best team, which is why we give everything together every day. We believe in Talent Density, because exceptional people make everyone around them better. At Nelly, we move fast and expect everyone to keep up. Stagnation isn’t an option, which is why we invest heavily in growth. AI is an essential part of how we work at Nelly. We expect you to use it every day and give you everything you need to do so. You get trust and ownership and we expect you to speak up, even when it's uncomfortable. What you'll do • Lead, inspire and grow a high-performing team of 3–6 software and AI engineers. • Collaborate closely with a product manager to iteratively build, launch, and improve new products • Own hiring for your team, building a team of high performing engineers. • Keep your team at the cutting edge of LLM and AI based engineering, testing new ideas and tech as it’s released • Own the quality, reliability, and security of your team’s products. Delivering high availability production systems • Stay hands on, developing with your team • Contribute to engineering-wide initiatives as a member of Nelly’s engineering leadership team What we're looking for • 1+ years of experience as an Engineering Manager and 8+ years of overall experience in software development • A strong technical background, building customer facing products • Experience working in the TypeScript or similar ecosystems and a drive to proactively learn both. • Experience with cloud native development. • Experience designing, building, and owning customer facing products and production back-end systems • A deep understanding of software engineering processes and team management • Empathy and excellent communication skills What we offer: • The people you get to work with. You will work alongside the brightest minds we could find, on hard problems, as a team. We take on challenges together and we never forget to have fun doing it. • Room to grow faster than almost anywhere else. New challenges, more scope, real ownership from day one. We trust you to own it and to speak up when something is wrong. Just do not expect to stand still. • A yearly learning and development budget, plus the coaching, feedback and internal knowledge that actually move you forward. Real investment in your learning. • A front row seat while we build something big. We are building the financial operating system for European healthcare, with AI woven into how we build, sell and support. Real scope, real impact. • Deutschlandticket or Swapfiets membership. • Urban Sports Club membership. • Flexible working hours and a hybrid setup and up to 4 weeks of workation. • A dog friendly office.
