Senior Product Designer (German-speaking) Remote

About Finom Finom is a European tech startup headquartered in Amsterdam, and we’re on a journey towards revolutionizing the financial landscape for entrepreneurs worldwide. Our mission is to develop an all-in-one financial B2B solution that integrates banking functions, accounting, financial management, and invoicing into a seamless, mobile-first platform. We recently closed a €115 million Series C equity round (around $133 million), bringing our total funding to approximately $346 million. This significant investment follows a $105 million growth funding round from General Catalyst, a long-term backer since 2021 known for supporting companies like Airbnb, HubSpot, KAYAK, and Stripe. Finom's platform goes beyond traditional banking, offering invoicing and a growing suite of features, including AI-enabled accounting, aiming to simplify financial management for entrepreneurs. We're actively expanding our reach across key EU markets like Germany, France, the Netherlands, Italy, and Spain. At Finom, we’re not just redefining the entrepreneurial experience — we’re empowering our employees to make a real difference. Your work matters, and your impact extends far beyond product metrics. We nurture innovation and an inspiring work environment where bold ideas thrive, prioritizing thorough research, swift implementation of solutions, and ensuring that every effort we make benefits our users, employees, partners, and our business as a whole. Maintaining our start-up spirit, we prioritize thorough research, swift implementation of solutions, and ensuring that every effort we make benefits our users, employees, partners, and, of course, our business. We're looking for a Senior Product Designer to join one of Finom’s core product domains and help shape the experience for tens of thousands of customers across Europe. You’ll own design from discovery through delivery, turning complex financial workflows into intuitive, elegant, and scalable product experiences. This role is for a designer who thrives on complexity, demands excellence, and is ready to translate ambitious business goals into simple, high-quality user experiences. You’ll work closely with Product Managers, Engineers, Analysts, Research, and Design leadership to define problems clearly, explore solutions rigorously, and ship work that materially improves the lives of entrepreneurs, freelancers, and small businesses. What You’ll Do • Own design across the full product lifecycle, from discovery and problem framing to final implementation, QA, and polish. • Turn complex fintech and SMB workflows into clear, user-centered experiences, using research, product data, and customer feedback to guide decisions. • Collaborate closely with Product Managers, Engineers, Analysts, and fellow Designers to scope work, define outcomes, and ship high-quality solutions. • Create essential design artifacts including flows, wireframes, prototypes, high-fidelity mockups, and clear product specs. • Contribute to our design system and product quality bar, improving consistency, accessibility, scalability, and craft across the interface. • Support high-priority initiatives such as modular pricing, onboarding UX transformation, and AI Copilot features. Who You Are • 4+ years of experience in product design, ideally in fintech, SaaS, or complex digital product environments. • Formal education in design — such as Product Design, Interaction Design, UX/UI, Visual Communication, HCI, or a related field. • A strong portfolio showing user-centered thinking, strong interaction and visual design craft, and polished execution. • Experience designing complex platforms with multiple user flows, states, permissions, edge cases, and dependencies. • Confidence working in cross-functional squads and explaining design decisions using research, product data, business context, and customer feedback. • Strong English communication skills; German language skills or experience designing for German-speaking users are highly valued. • AI-native mindset: you actively use AI tools for exploration, synthesis, prototyping, critique, documentation, and faster iteration. Hiring Process • Step 1: Async Portfolio Review — We review your portfolio link and one written response to assess craft and design quality before scheduling any calls. • Step 2: Hiring Manager Call — A video chat with VP of Design focusing on your ownership, drive, and collaborative style. • Step 3: Take-Home Assignment — A practical Finom product case study (3–5 days turnaround) evaluated for strategic thinking, user insights, and design execution. • Step 4: Live Presentation & Cross-Functional Interview — A full walkthrough and Q&A with design and product leads.
