Technical Product Owner

🏢 Who we are A team from Germany with the vision to make advanced network security accessible for everyone We are a software company developing a zero-trust network security platform that is both easy to use and affordable for teams of all sizes and budgets. Our mission is grounded in a simple yet powerful belief: secure private networking is a fundamental right of every modern company. Since our launch on GitHub in 2021, we have gained trust among thousands of companies seeking secure and seamless solutions for connecting remote employees and infrastructure. By replacing traditional centralized VPNs, NetBird has become a trusted choice for modern network security, connecting today hundreds of thousands of users and machines worldwide. Our open-source, community-driven approach has been a key driver of our success. We listen to our users, and their input helps us make network security better for everyone. Want to see what we're working on? Check out our GitHub repo at https://github.com/netbirdio/netbird or https://netbird.io/knowledge-hub ✏️ What you will do As a Technical Product Owner at NetBird, you'll be the link between our users and our engineering team on the core NetBird platform. That means the clients, the dashboard and API, and the self-hosted setup. Today our CTO covers product next to running engineering, and you'll take over a big part of the day to day. You keep the backlog in Linear in good shape, turn feedback from customers and the community into clear, well-scoped work and make sure engineers can spend their time building. You'll report to our CTO and work closely with engineering, support and sales. You will: • Own the day-to-day backlog in Linear. Triage incoming issues, write clear tickets with context and acceptance criteria and keep priorities current. • Build a simple system for collecting feedback from customers, GitHub issues, community channels, support and sales calls, and turn it into well-framed problems the team can act on. • Talk to users and customers directly to understand their setups and the problem behind each request. • Plan our regular cycles with engineering, break bigger features into shippable pieces, and follow them through to release. • Keep the rest of the company in the loop on what's shipping, from release notes and changelogs to updates for sales and support. • Close the loop with the people who gave feedback, so they know what happened with it. • Spot patterns across feedback and bring them into roadmap discussions, backed by data where you can. This is a technical product owner role. You won't write production code, but unlike a classic product owner you'll go deep with engineers on how things work, reproduce issues yourself and judge how much effort a request really takes. It's also a hands-on role in a small team. There's no big product org around you yet, so you'll help shape how product work runs at NetBird as we grow. 🔎 What we are looking for We're looking for someone who is at home in technical conversations, both with our engineers and with our users, who mostly work in IT and infrastructure teams. You also like structure and keep a busy backlog in order. Must-Haves • 3+ years of experience as a Product Owner, Product Manager, or in a similar role at a (technical) B2B SaaS, infrastructure, or developer tools company. • A technical background. You're comfortable reading API docs, following a GitHub discussion, and digging into how something works together with engineers. • Understanding of networking basics like IP, DNS, routing, firewalls, and VPNs. • Hands-on experience running a backlog in Linear, Jira, or similar, and writing tickets engineers can pick up without a follow-up meeting. • Experience working directly with customers or users and turning their feedback into prioritized work. • Good judgment on priorities. You can say no, explain why, and keep people aligned. • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English. You default to writing things down. • You work AI native. You use AI tools and coding agents every day, for example to sort feedback, dig into a problem or draft tickets, and you know where they help and where they don't. • Comfortable in a small, fast-moving team where processes are still being built. Nice-to-Haves • Experience with networking, security, or zero trust products. • Experience with open source projects or developer communities. • Experience building CLI products. • Hands-on experience with self-hosting, Docker, Kubernetes, or cloud infrastructure. • Some coding experience, enough to read a PR or reproduce a bug yourself. • Experience using product analytics to back up decisions. 😌 What’s in it for you We want you to do meaningful work and be proud of what you build. That’s why we offer: • Comprehensive compensation package: Receive a competitive base salary and equity incentives. • Hybrid work environment: Enjoy the flexibility of working both from our centrally located Berlin office and remotely. • Real product ownership: A direct say in what our engineering team builds next. • Open source impact: Work in the open on a popular open source project, in direct contact with our customers and community. • Growth opportunities: The chance to build up our product team from the start, with room to grow as NetBird scales. If you don't tick every box, apply anyway. And if you have time, try NetBird first and tell us in your application one thing you'd change. Find more English Speaking Jobs in Germany on Arbeitnow
